Description of the offer: | A German SME developing and constructing machines and plants for the recycling industry has invented a new plastic separation technology with float-sink tanks. The sorting of plastics by type is an important processing step from waste to valuable feedstock. The most common technology used today is based on density separation. Separation technologies like fast rotating centrifuges are extremely expensive and rarely offer an attractive return. Another available technology is the sorting in a hydro cyclone. But this requires huge pumps and consumes much energy. Separation using water or other liquids in a float-sink tank is a proven technology for sorting plastics. Separation tanks offered at the market often have a poor design. Turbulences in the tank dominate the gravity forces. The result is an unsatisfying purity. The new invented tank construction reduces these turbulences. The pre-shredded plastics are fed to the tank, distributed across and pushed under water. The right feeding into the tank is significant for the results. The tanks are equipped with stirrers or screw conveyors to remove air bubbles which have an undesired influence on the separation process. Further a line of surface paddles moves the plastic along the tank, pushing the material under water to encourage the heavier materials to subside. The light material moves along the surface. Sheet metal walls in the tank avoid turbulences which disturb the separation. At the end of the tank, the floating plastics are caught by the slowly rotating discharging screw and removed to the next processing stage. Items which are heavier than water (eg PET, PA, stones, metal and glass) sink when passing the tank and are collected by the discharging screw. Water is usually satisfactory for plastics separation but other liquids of different densities can be used if required. Partners are sought for Technical Cooperation Agreement. |
